Simple Homemade Pasta Dough

Updated: Jun 16, 2020

There are many different variations that you can create with all sorts of flours. This is the current version that I am using and find works with most pasta shapes.

150g 00 Flour (or plain flour)

150g Durum Wheat Flour

170ml Lukewarm Water

Pinch of Salt

Drizzle of Olive Oil

1/2 teaspoon of Turmeric for colour (optional)

- Mix the flour and salt in a bowl and form a little well in the centre.

- Add the water and olive oil and start to mix the flour from the sides into the centre.

- Mix the dough as much as you can inside the bowl, picking up as much flour as possible.

- If the flour isn’t collecting add more water, likewise if the dough is sticky and wet add a bit more flour.

- You should be able to take it out of the bowl and knead it on your work surface for 10 minutes without it sticking.

- Once you’ve finished it should be able to roll into a smooth uniform ball.

- Cover it in clingfilm and leave it to rest for 30 minutes in the fridge.

After which….. let your imagination run wild! (Or click below for some of my pasta recipes!)
